Directions to Hoyfjellet Lodge

1. Paradise folks meet at terry ashe rec Center by 8:30 - 9:00

2. Chico Folks we will Pick you up Before 8:30

3. Oroville Folks we will figure out a ride for anyone in oroville who can not make it up in the morning

4. It's going to be Snowing up at the Donner Summit so bring all your Elements gear including, Boots, Hiking Pants, Balaclava, Neck Gaiter. Leg Gaiters, Hiking Backpack, Long johns, water bottles

5. other gear to bring includes sunscreen,sunglasses,sun hat, lip balm

6. We have rain shells and Puffy Jackets for all members

Day 1 Acclimation Hike

Target Arrival: Students will leave butte county at 9:30am to arrive @ 12:00pm at Hoyjfellet Lodge On Donner Summit. Upon Arrival we will greet the bus and participants and host a mountain safety orientation including leave no trace ethics and fun ice breaker games. Afterwards we will head out into the forest for a hike to learn about our new surroundings with an emphasis on group bonding and individual comfort for all participants.

Evening Program: Mindful eating activity followed by night hike and star gazing.

Day 2: Rock climbing & Human History Loop

Participants will rock climb on the spectacular granite cliffs of Donner Summit at School Rock Focusing on rock climbing basics. Students will learn rope management, belaying skills and climbing techniques by our certified guides. Students are encouraged by our “challenge by choice” Philosophy in Climbing Instruction. Rock climbing is a peak experience for many, and participants may enter a “flow” state Mindset, resulting in reduced anxiety, depression and empowered embodiment. Participants will take a walk back in time as they explore the retired transcontinental train tunnels. we will discuss aspects of human history and how our families and elders made decisions to cross lands in honor of opportunity.

Evening Program: Campfire wit s’mores,skits,talents and more! a fun container for self expression under the stars.
