Outdoor Education for All is pleased to introduce you to our newly appointed Coordinator, Mr. Scott Amick. Through a series of interviews that led the Paradise Recreation and Parks Department through more than 200 applicants, Mr. Amick was selected for the Healing Trauma Through Nature Coordinator position in late April of 2020. Accepting the baton from the interim coordinator, Dr. Anne Stephens, Mr. Amick had the following to say about his hiring:

The trauma caused by the Camp Fire to both young and old in our Butte County Communities is being reactivated by the challenges inherent in facing Covid 19. As we prepare to exit quarantine and shelter in place orders, our community will crave experiences in nature and recreation in the outdoors more now than ever before. I look forward to working with our community partners to meet these needs and to maintaining a clear voice of resilience as we continue to find effective ways to help Butte County heal through experiences in our beautiful natural surroundings.

Utilizing relationships with a host of community based organizations, Mr. Amick plans to carry forward the mission of the OEFA founders - to connect students, teachers, and the North State Community with outdoor educators, natural resource education institutions, and environmentally conscious programs. Acting as a backbone organization, OEFA seeks to be a unifying voice for all those passionate about getting outdoors to increase their quality of life.

If you would like to get involved, to welcome Mr. Amick, or to offer suggestions of any form, please contact OEFA at outdooreducationforall@gmail.com
